I think it’s safe to say that 20 years ago, nobody could have predicted where grunge’s three most important bands would be today. Let’s take a quick look:– Soundgarden: After a sorta reunion last year, the band says they’re in the studio working on new material. We’re not holding our breath for a new record, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.– Nirvana:

The Experience Music Project is launching the largest Nirvana exhibit anyone’s ever seen since the In Utero tour. Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic opened his trunks and closets to the folks at EMP, which is promising plenty of never-before-seen artifacts. Nirvana tourists wait with bated breath. The exhibit opens April 16.– Pearl Jam: It was announced this morning that frontman Eddie Vedder will be mounting a U.S. tour this summer to pitch his forthcoming solo record, Ukulele Songs, that hits Seattle’s Benaroya Hall on July 16. (All dates after the jump.)If Vedder’s ukulele-backed track “Rise” on the Into the Wild soundtrack is any indication, Ukulele Songs–in stores May 31–should be well worth a spin.
