I think it’s safe to say that 20 years ago, nobody could have predicted where grunge’s three most important bands would be today. Let’s take a quick look:– Soundgarden: After a sorta reunion last year, the band says they’re in the studio working on new material. We’re not holding our breath for a new record, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.– Nirvana:
The Experience Music Project is launching the largest Nirvana exhibit anyone’s ever seen since the In Utero tour. Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic opened his trunks and closets to the folks at EMP, which is promising plenty of never-before-seen artifacts. Nirvana tourists wait with bated breath. The exhibit opens April 16.– Pearl Jam: It was announced this morning that frontman Eddie Vedder will be mounting a U.S. tour this summer to pitch his forthcoming solo record, Ukulele Songs, that hits Seattle’s Benaroya Hall on July 16. (All dates after the jump.)If Vedder’s ukulele-backed track “Rise” on the Into the Wild soundtrack is any indication, Ukulele Songs–in stores May 31–should be well worth a spin. Tickets go on sale to the general public on April 1, and Pearl Jam’s Ten Club members get an early crack at tickets on March 29 and 30.Tour Dates:June 15: Providence, RI, Providence Performing Arts Center (PAC)June 16: Boston, MA, The Wang TheatreJune 18: Hartford, CT, The Bushnell Center for the Performing ArtsJune 21: New York, NY, Beacon TheatreJune 22: New York, NY, Beacon TheatreJune 25: Philadelphia, PA, Tower TheatreJune 26: Detroit, MI, Fox TheatreJune 28: Chicago, IL, The Chicago TheatreJuly 1: St. Louis, MO, Fox TheatreJuly 2: Minneapolis, MN, Orpheum TheatreJuly 5: San Diego, CA, Copley Symphony HallJuly 6: Long Beach, CA, Terrace TheaterJuly 8: Los Angeles, CA, The WilternJuly 9: Santa Barbara, CA, Santa Barbara BowlJuly 11: Oakland, CA, The Paramount TheatreJuly 14: Portland, OR, Arlene Schnitzer Concert HallJuly 15: Seattle, WA, Benaroya HallFollow us on Facebook and Twitter.
