I haven’t quite figured out what I’m doing for Valentine’s Day. If I play my cards right, I should have two dates lined up for that evening. But we’ve still got a little over two weeks to go and things could change drastically for me by Feb. 14. If something goes awry for anyone out there (including myself), there’s good news. Kentucky hailing rap group Nappy Roots will perform that evening at Fremont’s Nectar.Remember them?! The year was 2002 and they reached notoriety with catchy tracks like “Po’ Folks” and “Awnaw.” Their follow-up album wasn’t as commercially successful, and the group has since signed on with an independent label to make music. The show (for 21 and older) is only $10 in advance–a lot cheaper than a dinner date. I’d love to check out what the group has been up to. Hell, maybe I’ll go on two dinner dates, then take a third date to the show. One can only hope.
