I didn’t really go on vacation with KEXP DJ Derek Mazzone. But we were on the island of Kauai, Hawaii at the exact same time!!! There we were (my wife and I, that is), cruising down Highway 50 on Sunday (or was it Monday?), flipping through the stations in our rental car, when we heard the familiar voice of longtime Wo’Pop host Derek Mazzone. He was a guest DJ on KKCR, Kaua’i’s only community radio station, which is broadcast out of the north coast town of Hanalei (also home to the island’s oldest tiki bar Tahiti Nui). Coincidence? Yes. Absolutely.
