Hey Monday plays tonight at 6 p.m. at El Corazon. The word “Monday” strikes fear in the hearts of most people. However, new pop-rock band Hey Monday does quite the opposite. Barely out of high school, this new upbeat band lead by Cassadee Pope has already created quite a buzz. Hey Monday recently released their first album Hold On Tight which was co-created by Columbia Records and Decaydance Records. The album produces a hyper pop sound fused with typical angst-y teen oriented lyrics. Regardless of the subject matter these passionate youngsters’ beats still got under my skin and got my foot tappin’. Catch them at El Corazon tonight along with The Friday Night Boys, Stereo Skyline, The Bigger Lights and Seattle’s This Providence, as a part of the MySpace Music Lets Make A Mess Tour. I’m sensing many spontaneous dance parties as the show is sure to be high energy. But beware, these bands sport a few Jo Bro haircuts and judging by their lyrics may be attracting a slightly younger crowd.
