Think of the Green Room as the Showbox’s little sister. Skinny, shiny, and fairly new to the scene, the Green Room hosts its own events, has its own identity, and serves an entirely different purpose than the Showbox’s main stage. Scaled-down acoustic sets, karaoke nights, art and photography openings, semiprivate parties, and eclectic performances spot the Green Room’s social calendar. Even on nights when nothing’s planned, it’s still a good place to find an empty stool and reflect on beers gone by (the etched-glass ledger of past Showbox guests that serves as a wall between the two spaces works as an exceptional memory-jogger and conversation piece). Although you’ll probably do well to stay away from the bar menu—booze is king, while food seems to be something of an afterthought—the club boasts some decent happy hour prices. 1426 First, 628-3151.
