George Flotard with daughters Rachel (L) and Sarah (R)I just received news that Visqueen frontwoman Rachel Flotard and her family are mourning the loss of their father, who passed away last night. As many in the music community are aware, Rachel and her father were extremely, extremely close and her and her sister had taken very loving care of him over the last several years as he battled prostate cancer. Rachel is a helluva self-starter, and it always amazed me that however ambitious she was as an artist, she always put her father first. Mr. Flotard was a great soul: funny, smart, and terribly proud of his children’s accomplishments. This photo (by Steven Dewall) shows that quite beautifully:…as does this segment profiling Visqueen on KSTW’s “Underground” series. The bits with her dad are pretty priceless. The Flotard family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Make A Wish Foundation. Rachel, our thoughts and love and with you and your family. I’m so terribly sorry for your loss.
