From what I understand after getting a note from Michael Yuasa, he and the other folks at Club Pop Headquarters were having some conflicts with the venue, and so, from what I understand, they opted to end the relationship instead of continue on with the head-butting. There are, so far as I know, no plans to revive the 18+ pop music dance night elsewhere. Which is a significant bummer (insert Partman Parthorse’s “Significant Bummer” here.) Yuasa did say that he feels that the night had a great run, and that he’s had a great time making it happen. Let’s hope he will come up with a similar party to host in the near future, even if it’s not Club Pop per se. Though I haven’t been part of the 18-21 crowd for some time, if I was, I can’t think of any other good dance clubs or nights in town that I would have ever even considered subjecting myself to. It’s an unfortunate loss for those poor kids trapped between adolescence and adulthood by our country’s ludicrous liquor laws. Anyway, go show Club Pop some love tonight at Chop Suey– things open up at 9 p.m. and cost $8 until 11 p.m.–and make sure the people involved know that the event will be dearly missed.
