For some reason about 20 minutes ago I started listening to Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band’s debut self-titled album. I’m a huge fan of the record and recently included it as one of the best local albums of 2009. Oddly enough, as I’m sitting here listening to some of the songs and doing my daily web search, I came across a brand new video for “Albatross Albatross Albatross” that the group just put out. Like all of their videos, it’s not what you’d expect. Check it out above. The band is officially 15 days away from actually playing atop Mt. St. Helens. If you want to learn more about that show on August 15, head here. And I definitely have to send a shout out to the band’s drummer, Marshall Verdoes, who despite being 14 is one of the coolest members in this city’s indie rock community by far.
