Eddie Vedder, who we all know loves a good cause, announced today that he and rockers Paul McCartney, Sheryl Crow, Donovan, Paul Horn, and Moby, will be playing a benefit show in New York City for, of all things, the David Lynch Foundation. You’d think any foundation that David Lynch is behind must be dedicated to creepy film noir, but that’s not the case. The foundation is all about creating space within elementary education for transcendental meditation. Apparently, all of the rockers playing the show are big believers that kids should be allowed at least one hour a day to dive into their own minds and explore the limitless possibilities. That sounds right-on to me. It’s better than spending an hour learning social studies (whatever the hell that is). Ticket information for the NYC gig hasn’t been revealed yet but the proceeds go toward the foundation’s goal of teaching one million children the techniques of deep meditation. If anybody knows of schools here in the Seattle area that are doing this with students, I’d love to hear about it.
