Duff McKagan’s column runs every Thursday on Reverb. He writes about what music is circulating through his space every Monday. There is nothing better than some cool-ass jams for summertime. I like all kinds of music and these three cuts that I’m gonna highlight are by no means the only things that I will listen to this week. But hey! They are a damn fine conversation starter!Queens Of The Stone Age, “Feel Good Hit Of The Summer” (Rated R): I read that Josh Homme is putting out a re-mastered deluxe package of this record, and I for one, will be picking it up. This rock song IS one of the best ever!Sly And The Family Stone, “Hot Fun In The Summertime” (Higher!): This song and record as a whole has always held a mystical slant for me. How can there be this much damn talent and free-flowing hipness?!The Time, “Ice Cream Castles” (Ice Cream Castles): Back when Prince had at least three different musical projects going at one time (Vanity 6, etc.), The Time at one point, was almost as big as the almighty Purple One. This song is a lost gem and a cool summer jam. Enjoy!
