The popular on-air personality went so far as to convince his parents to let him transfer schools so he could be involved with NHHS’ student-run station C89.5 FM.Many of Seattle’s current radio personalities–including Shellie Hart and Luke Burbank–worked at the dance music station as students. And artists like Rihanna and Lady GaGa have dropped by the classroom to say hello. I would have killed to have a program like this around when I was a teenager. Luckily, I can at least pretend I’m part of the C89.5 crew by jumping aboard their Lake Union cruise this Sunday. For $20–which is tax deductible because the station is a non-profit owned by Seattle Public Schools–you can party alongside C89.5 DJs and listeners. All the funds go toward supporting the station and ensuring that we continue to get awesome commercial-free dance music on the radio. It’s partying for a good cause. And those of us who want to get real festive can do so in a designated 21+ room. That’s where I plan on planting my ass. I just hope I don’t get too drunk and fall off the damn boat. Tickets are selling fast, so grab them while you can by visiting C89.5 FM’s website.
