Christina (left) and GaGa (right)I’ve had an issue with Christina Aguilera ever since last fall when, in an interview with the L.A. Times, she denied ripping off Lady GaGa’s style and cattily continued, “I’m not quite sure who this person is, to be honest. I don’t know if it is a man or a woman.”GaGa fan or not, anyone with two damn eyes can see that in a desperate attempt to reclaim the pop superstar throne, Aguilera has morphed into a second-rate version of her successor.See Exhibit A, on the right. Now, Aguilera’s new single “Not Myself Tonight” (available via iTunes on April 13) has hit the Internet. It’s a Europop-style dance anthem that once again, comes off suspiciously GaGa. Except it sucks. But that’s besides the point. I have no qualms with Aguilera trying to reinvent her image and career. But c’mon! At least give credit where it’s due! To be fair, I will say that GaGa herself is guilty of this. She too, has a name she needs to mention when citing her inspirations. That name is Peaches.
