Bob Dylan plays the WaMu Theater on Monday, October 5, 2009. Ticket on sale at 10 a.m., August 10 via Ticketmaster.Yes, we wish he was playing another three-night engagement at The Paramount. Yes, we wish people like Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Seal would stop playing that concrete cave connected to a football stadium so we could appreciate the intricacies of their performances in a more intimate/appropriate venue. And yes, even though Dylan sounds like he took a meat grinder to his vocal chords, he can still lick any son of a bitch in the business. And every time I’ve seen him on stage I come away ready for my next Dylan show. He’ll appease purveyors of his myriad greatest hits collections, but he’ll do it with updated arrangements that will satisfy even the most obsessive of his fanbase. And lucky for us, we’ll get to hear him shill for his latest effort, April’s breezy Together Through Life. Rocktober indeed.
