The Great UmRelease:

What the People WantLabel: Self-releasedRelease date: Out nowThis Seattle trio play KEXP-style indie rock with clean guitar tones and an affinity for ’60s British pop like The Kinks as well as indie icons like Pavement. The tunes are catchy and buoyant and singer-guitarist Caleb Thompson has a unique delivery, which has helped the band rack up lots of plays on the aforementioned KEXP. Things are mostly subdued on the record, but the band let loose on “Sweet Baby K,” which has a White Stripes vibe thanks to its big riffs and bluesy progression. Fun fact: Drummer Robb Benson was the frontman for Dear John Leters. The band will celebrate the album’s release on Oct. 18th at the Sunset and you can check out a stream of the record after the jump. What the People Want by The Great Um
