Ballard’s Bop Street Records has had an eventful year, finally moving out of their musty old space on Old Ballard Avenue to a newer storefront on Market Street in July. The new space is a definite step up for Bop Street — it’s clean, bright, and the volume of records owner Dave Voorhees has in stock is absolutely jaw-dropping. The sprucing up didn’t stop with the move, though — a couple weeks ago Voorhees installed this beautiful brand-new piece of stained glass featuring, well, himself. The glass was made by Seattle Stained Glass in Wallingford. Next to Voorhees’ familiar face is his special lady friend, Bop Girl, from the 1950s film starring Judy Tyler (tagline: “It’s a Rock’n Roll Riot!”)Dave Voorhees. Vinyl maestro. Now an immortal piece of art. “It looks more like Dave than Dave does!” says Voorhees’ business advisor Bob Jacobs.
