On Friday, he and his producer Ryan Lewis were honored at the Grammy Nomination ceremony with seven nominations including Best Rap Album (The Heist), Best Rap Song (“Thrift Shop”), and Best Rap Performance (“Thrift Shop”). (Sidenote: fellow Northwesterner Neko Case also grabbed a nod for Best Alternative Music Album.) On Sunday, the United Nations LGBT Equality Campaign launched its Human Rights Day Video (above) set to the tune of none other than “Same Love.” And starting tonight, Macklemore and Lewis play a three-day-long sold out run at Key Arena. will head out on the road with Black Sabbath in support of its upcoming Canadian tour. That tour kicks off April 3, but the axe man, who also goes by Jordan Cook and currently has a new single, “In The Dark”, streaming on Rolling Stone, will play Australia and some American dates before then, including a show with Hobosexual and Ravenna Woods at the Neptune December 28th.

Speaking of performances, The Head and the Heart will make a few high profile TV appearances in the coming week. Tomorrow, the band makes “their first ever appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” says a Sub Pop press release, and “the following week, the band will perform “Another Story” on Conan.” The band, of course, is no stranger to TV; the group made their TV debut in 2011 on Conan, and recently performed a few cuts from its latest album, Let’s Be Still, on CW’s Hart of Dixie. Somebody wrote, simply, poetically, “Toni Braxton.” You just don’t see that shit in Seattle. Best tag I’ve seen today reads, in fluorescent green lettering, “lick.”
