Art space SPACE on Alaskan Way is moving out of their current

Art space SPACE on Alaskan Way is moving out of their current location and going on a bit of hiatus while they look for a new space to put their SPACE. To end things with a bang, they’re throwing a series of events they’re calling Gentrification Festival 2012, or Gentrifest. The fest kicked off with a show last night and will continue tonight with a movie screening featuring Spider-Man 3, Superman 3, and Men in Black 3 and tomorrow, June 30, with a show headlined by the Everett hip-hop group Black Magic Noize and Reverb’s friend Legato Bebop. The show’s all ages and $10, or you can buy a $20 festival pass that will get you into the remainder of Gentrifest’s events–there’s more music, food, and partying continuing through next weekend. July 4: Potluck BBQ with performances by Slashed Tires and Mega Bog.July 6: A show featuring MTNS, White Coward and more, followed by an afterparty with OC Notes.July 7: A BBQ with performances by Mercy Ties, Blood Orange Paradise and more, followed by an afterparty with Joe Biden (a Mac Dre Tribute Band) (awesome). Hit Facebook to get all the details on all the bands participating, and here’s hoping SPACE will be able to find a rocking new space soon.
