After catching his fantastic, joyful, completely captivating show here in Philly a couple of weeks ago, I highly recommend you go see Swedish indie-pop troubador Jens Lekman and his band of lovelies tonight at Nectar. As Aja noted in this week’s ish, “his recent Secretly Canadian release, Night Falls Over Kortedala, nods emphatically to influences from other eras, ranging from the deadpan nature of Jonathan Richman to Frankie Valli’s pop sensibilities. Even a lower-key Tom Jones or Old Blue Eyes can be heard in his velvet baritone as it delivers wistful, stream-of-consciousness stories and love songs.” After the jump, some photos I shot of Jens and the gang that night.
