Jazz fans almost can’t help but get starry-eyed when they walk into Georgetown’s premier jazz club, the earnestly named About the Music. Large black-and-white photographs of all the legends line the walls; the small stage looks like the kind of place where good things go down; and on the balcony, you can sip a cold martini and pretend you’re waiting for your good friend Satchmo to show up. Even from the outside, the enormous brick building underneath the highway gives off an air of old-fashioned regalia. Although past performers include contemporary jazz/funk bassist Stanley Clarke and former Frank Zappa collaborator Alice Stuart, not everything at About the Music is strictly about the musicthey also have spoken-word performances, live readings, and poetry jam sessions. 6010 Airport Way S., 206-762-5518.
