A new copy of The National’s Boxer, $12.99.I’m not sure if this

A new copy of The National’s Boxer, $12.99.I’m not sure if this story is funny or sad, but it’s true, and it demonstrates almost everything that’s wrong with digital music: The first three tracks on this record are “Fake Empire,” “Mistaken for Strangers,” and “Brainy,” in that order. I got this album through . . . eMusic, I believe, when I still subscribed to eMusic. There was some technical snafu, and “Fake Empire” and “Mistaken for Strangers” didn’t come through. Not a big deal, right? Wrong. It was WELL OVER A YEAR until I realized the first two songs existed. Consequently, my Boxer starts with Brainy. So, yeah, glad to have the whole thing in one place now.A new vinyl copy of The Dutchess and the Duke’s She’s the Dutchess, He’s the Duke, $11.99.I’ve been listening to/loving this record for a few years, but didn’t own a hard copy until a few hours ago. I buy hard copies of my favorites to leave a high-carbon trail of my musical consumption for my offspring to snark at someday. When I was at the register, the clerk mentioned that they had just put this record on the shelf today. Time to reorder, y’all.A used vinyl copy of Stephen Stills/Manassas’ Down the Road, $4.99.I’m a sucker for Stephen Stills. I loved the first Manassas record. I haven’t heard this one. I don’t think. This LP is 37 years old. Do you think you’ll have ANY of the mp3s you own today in 37 years?
