After a freakishly nice summer, it has finally gotten cold outside once again in our fair Pacific Northwest. That means it’s almost time again for the Timbrrr! Winter Music Festival, a magical two-day/night affair full of music and wintery goodness in Seattle’s only Bavarian themed town, Leavenworth. On January 9 and 10, the town will turn into a hot-toddy laden wonderland with a beefy roster of bands to soundtrack your snowball fights. Which bands, you ask? Well here’s half the lineup just to whet your appetite:

Red Fang

Portlandic riffmasters Red Fang will be bringing the heavy at Timbrrr this year—and between all the solid gold, stoner metal packed in the band’s latest albums Whales and Leeches and Murder the Mountains, the group of hairy gentleman will likely melt plenty faces (in addition to lots of snow). Hobosexual

Hobosexual writes no-frills rock and roll music about raunchy forbidden robot love and things exploding. Who would’ve thought AC/DC’s heirs to the throne would’ve come from Seattle? Fun fact: While the band has half the members that Red Fang does, Hobosexual somehow still has just as much beard.

Deep Sea Diver

Jessica Dobson has plenty of indie cred in her own right, having played guitar for Beck, Conor Oberst, Spoon and Yeah Yeah Yeahs—but her own band Deep Sea Diver has been winning over indie-leaning Seattlites since 2012 when the group released History Speaks. The group returned with a new EP Always Waiting just last month and it looks set to make waves once more.

Prom Queen

I would say that the loungey/surfy/noir-tinged music Seattle’s Prom Queen makes sounds like it stepped out of a Tarantino film, but in reality, it just stepped out of Prom Queen’s own god damn film—Midnight Veil, a magical “visual album” the group released just last week.

Dude York

Dude York’s party-ready shred will have Leavenworth tossing its lederhosen in the air, and if you don’t believe me, watch the “Cannibal” video above and look for the bong with the slice of pepporoni pizza on it.

Courtney Marie Andrews

Hailing from Phoenix, AZ, Courtney Marie Andrews rootsy folk music sounds like it came from another sepia-toned time, full of gently plucked guitar and commanding, stirring vocals.

Sisters

New to the Seattle scene, Sisters didn’t take long to let everyone in town know they were smooth operators, releasing the electro-R&B goodness of “Back 2 U.” Check out the band’s debut EP Diamonds of Gold if you like tabla, amazing drumming, and tasty-synth lines.

Planes on Paper

If you like acoustic guitar and harmonies, Planes on Paper has that in spades. The band to seek out when having a peaceful Timbrrr moment staring at snowflakes. Interested in tickets to this year’s Timbrrr? Grab them here.
