For Seahawks fans across Seattle, Super Bowl Sunday is as much about the watch party as it is the game. This year, Xfinity is promising to change how the Big Game looks and how fast it hits your screen.
Comcast’s Xfinity has launched RealTime4K, a new ultra-low-latency technology that will deliver the Super Bowl in 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, with dramatically reduced delay compared to other providers. RealTime4K will show live sports action up to 30 seconds faster than competing 4K services, creating a more thrilling and connected viewing experience that feels closer to being inside the stadium.
For Seahawks fans used to riding every snap, scramble and last-second touchdown, that reduced lag could make a real difference, especially in a city where game-day group chats light up fast, making every moment more shared and exciting.
“Nothing kills watching a live sporting event faster than getting a text or seeing a play on social media before it hits your screen,” Comcast executive Jon Gieselman said in announcing the technology. “With Xfinity’s new RealTime4K tech, spoilers don’t stand a chance.”
A Super Bowl built for the big screen
Xfinity TV customers with 4K-capable equipment will be able to watch the Super Bowl on a dedicated Peacock 4K channel, featuring full pre-game, halftime and post-game coverage all delivered in RealTime4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
In plain terms: richer color, sharper detail, stadium-level sound, and a picture that arrives almost as fast as the play happens.
The company says the speed boost comes from new network upgrades that remove compression steps from the delivery pipeline and send 4K programming at twice the bitrate of traditional 4K broadcasts, resulting in faster, higher-quality streams.
What it means in Seattle
Seattle fans who love football and invest in big screens and surround sound systems will find that RealTime4K offers an experience that matches the excitement of being at the game, enhancing their enjoyment of every play.
For Seahawks fans, that could mean:
- No waiting for the broadcast to catch up to the bar down the street
- No touchdown celebrations spoiled by texts
- A more immersive, stadium-style watch party at home
Customers without a 4K-capable X1 box will receive prompts to upgrade, and Xfinity stores in the Seattle area will offer box exchanges ahead of game day.
The future of sports viewing
These innovations are part of Comcast’s ongoing commitment to redefine how fans engage with live sports by offering the most immersive and effortless way to watch all the biggest moments – all in one place.
By combining best-in-class technology such as RealTime4K, Multiview and Fan View, Xfinity is delivering a seamless, personalized and comprehensive sports experience unlike anything else available from other pay-TV distributors.
And on a night when every second counts, seeing the winning play first might be the ultimate bragging right. For more information, click here.
