Comcast honors Digital Inclusion Week with $7.4-million investment to provide digital opportunities for Seattle residents

As the nation reflects on Digital Inclusion Week 2025, Comcast is proud to share that it has invested more than $7.4 million in cash and in-kind services in Seattle over the past four years. This investment is expanding internet access, delivering digital skills training and providing devices to help thousands of Seattle residents thrive in an increasingly digital world.

It’s all a part of Project UP, Comcast’s $1-billion nationwide commitment to advance digital opportunity and help build a future of unlimited possibilities.

Empowering Seattle through local partnerships

To bridge the digital opportunity gap and create pathways to meaningful careers, Comcast’s investment is funding 63 local organizations that are deeply embedded in Seattle, including Asian Counseling & Referral Service, El Centro de la Raza, Evergreen Goodwill, Mary’s Place, YWCA Seattle–King–Snohomish and more.

Comcast is also a key supporter of the Digital Equity Learning Network (DELN), a coalition committed to advancing digital inclusion throughout King County. DELN plays a pivotal role in Seattle’s digital connectivity ecosystem, working in close collaboration with the City of Seattle and other community partners to promote access to technology and digital skills.

The company also supports the City of Seattle’s Technology Matching Fund (TMF), which provides grants to community-based organizations working to eliminate digital disparities. Through this partnership, Comcast has invested more than a quarter of a million dollars to help expand digital access, literacy and opportunities across the city.

Digital navigators and affordable internet

Comcast and its Seattle nonprofit partners also serve as Digital Navigators, who deliver digital skills training and broadband access to underserved communities. They are helping people learn to use devices, access the internet and enroll in low-cost broadband programs, such as Internet Essentials, which provides affordable home internet for qualifying households, as well as low-cost computers, free WiFi hotspots, and free internet training. Since 2015, Internet Essentials has connected 112,000 low-income families in Seattle to high-speed Internet.

Connectivity and access to devices

While connectivity in the home is the number one solution for Seattle residents to access online resources, it is not the only option. That’s why Comcast has continued to open additional Lift Zones. There are now 18 Lift Zones throughout the City of Seattle that are providing free unlimited high-speed internet service at nonprofit organizations and community centers, enabling thousands of people to access online education, healthcare and employment resources.

Supporting small businesses

Small business owners face various barriers in today’s digital environment, including access to hardware and software, as well as the digital skills needed to effectively integrate these technologies. For four years, Comcast has provided hundreds of business owners in Seattle with millions of dollars’ worth of technology makeovers, complimentary broadband service, marketing resources and cash grants through Comcast RISE. This year alone, more than 50 Seattle small businesses received $1.5 million in cash grants and in-kind services from Comcast RISE to help propel economic growth in Seattle.

Employee volunteerism

Over the past four years, Comcast employees donated nearly 5,000 volunteer hours to support local nonprofit organizations in Seattle. Additionally, Comcast employee volunteers have participated in the City of Seattle’s One Seattle Day of Service since its inception in 2022. This year, Comcast partnered with YWCA Seattle | King | Snohomish to assemble back-to-school backpacks, welcome home kits, and food bank bags. Every task, big or small, was a step toward helping those facing food and housing insecurity.

“As we mark Digital Inclusion Week 2025, Comcast is proud to stand alongside the City of Seattle and our incredible community partners to bridge the digital divide,” said Rodrigo Lopez, Region Senior Vice President, Comcast Pacific Northwest. “Together, through Project UP, we’ve made meaningful progress in expanding internet access, digital skills, and device availability for thousands of residents. As we continue to invest in our next-generation network, we remain committed to being good neighbors and empowering every Seattleite with the tools they need to thrive in today’s connected world.”
