The annual May Day celebration kicks off with demonstrators expected to descend on Seattle. And they have to eat right? So let’s send them all to Urbane where the lunch menu was just revamped to include classics with a Northwest twist such as the Farmers Market Chop Salad with rotating season veggies, the Club Sandwich with Oregon bay shrimp and the big Italian Beef Sandwich with sriracha cream cheese.

The former Bistrot Le Zinc space has a new occupant in one Chef Shota Nakajima who will be opening his new space, Naka, in June. The restaurant will serve multi-course kaiseki-style meals that traditionally balance flavor, texture, appearance, and food color. The meals will feature local and seasonal ingredients served on plates that are selected to enhance both the presentation and the seasonality of the meal. Nakajima-san comes most recently from Sushi Kappo Tamura in Eastlake as well as his own catering business called Kappo, and he also studied under a Michelin-star chef in Osaka, Japan. Welcome Chef Nakajima!

And finally, since we haven’t talked about pop-ups in a while, Sheri LaVigne of Calf and Kid and the forthcoming Culture Club Cheese Bar will be collaborating with St. John’s Bar and Eatery Chef Joe Randazzo on the event Urban:Beer:Table. The five-course dinner will be held inside the Urban Family Brewery and will feature rare beers from Perennial Artisan Ales, Commons Brewery, Telegraph Brewing, Epic Ales, Urban Family. The dinner will be held on Monday May 11th at 6 p.m. and seats are limited at $45/pp all inclusive.
