Massimo Bottura was once famously dubbed the ‘Jimi Hendrix of Italian Cooking’ by Mario Batali. Fortunately, this living legend is coming to Seattle on his 6 stop US Book Tour for his latest – Never Trust a Skinny Italian Chef – on October 8th at Tom Douglas’ Cuoco. He’ll be cooking with Ethan Stowell for this private party for the Italophile in you. Tickets are $150 which include food, drinks and a signed copy of the book.

Nuflours gluten-free bakery will be opening its first long-anticipated storefront on Friday October 10th. The store will be located at 518 15th Ave E. and will feature a vast selection of gluten-free breads, pastries, savory treats and more. Locally sourced ingredients from sustainable farms are integral to Nuflours mission as is its commitment to no-trash generation from its cafe operations. Esquin Wine and Spirits presents their Wine and Cheese Pairing class from 2-4 on September 28th in their SODO location. The class is presented by 30 year industry veteran Leonard Rede and features classic pairings and discussion on why certain varietals and cheeses work so well together. Tickets are $40 with special pricing on featured wines – reservations required.

Renee Erickson talks about her new book, A Boat, a Whale and a Walrus partnering with Molly Wizenberg of Delancey fame at The Book Larder in Fremont on October 1st. The duo will prepare samplings from Erickson’s book in what is sure to be a fun, interactive event. Tickets can be purchased for $5 though the event is free if you purchase a copy of the book.
