It’s time to break up the donut monopoly in this town and get some new players in the game. Which is why Rodeo Donut is filling a competitive donut hole in the market and is popping up on Saturday, March 28th at the Cupcake Royale in Ballard from 7 a.m. onwards until they run out. Led by pastry chef Nicki Kerbs, Rodeo Donut will be a daily pop up with six rotating options appearing daily including creations such as the Bananza – Filled with real banana pastry cream, dipped in dark chocolate glaze and sprinkled with banana chip streusel and the Peanut Butter and Berry – fresh seasonal berry jam with peanut butter glaze topped with salted Spanish peanut crunch topping. Elvis may come back to life just for these. Or is he even dead? The dude on Walking Dead sure could be him reincarnate. Ponder that over your next bismarck.

Speaking of pop up options, Chef Paul Stayley, owner of Emerald City Cakes and Chocolates is getting his savory on by hosting Lewis and Clark dinner at Bloomon Monday, March 30th. If you’ve had enough of New American then try some ‘old American’ style food reaching back to the 1800’s for inspiration. The meal will follow the explorer’s theme of foraging and finding edibles during their travels and will feature six courses focused on the Pacific Northwest including Seared Venison Loin served chilled with Pistachios, Wild Mushrooms, and Microgreens and Hazelnut Crusted Pacific Salmon with Wild Rice Pilaf. There’s only one seating for $50/pp at 6:30 p.m. including tax and gratuity. Reservations can be made online for those daring to go on this culinary adventure.
