If you have a favorite Chef in town and want to give them props then now is your chance. The 2015 James Beard Award nomination process is in full swing and you can vote for your favorite Chefs. Nominations for 21 categories can be submitted by diners at the following link. So go on and let them know who fills your belly and why they deserve to be recognized. Chefs need love too.
The Halloween season continues with more capitalization on the holiday theme. This time it’s being done right – by roasting a whole animal at Bastille Cafe & Bar in Ballard. Chef Jason Stoneburner will be cooking up a pig on the back patio for carnivores and omnivores to enjoy. Bring the family for a pre-trick or treat meal from 4-6p on October 31st and then head out to procure dessert, piece by glorious piece, on the streets of Ballard.
Li’l Woody’s supports October as Dog Adoption Month by creating the ‘Cutie and the Beast Burger’ to raise money for Motley Zoo Animal Rescue. From October 21st to 27th diners can dine on this meaty concoction of peanut butter, apples, Swiss cheese, bacon and a 1/4 pound burger – or buy one for Rover too. Support a good cause by buying a burger and saving a dog – a winning combo.
Celebrate Dia de Muertos the way they do South of the border at La Carta de Oaxaca and Mezcaleria de Oaxaca a day early on October 31st. Live brass Banda’s, street food and plenty of mescal will be flowing freely. Enjoy and don’t eat the worm.
