Sloppy Hog BBQ Seattle will be held on April 1st through the 4th and will include dishes such as deviled eggs with candied bacon, baby back ribs and BBQ shrimp with grits gravy and a 75˚egg. The supporting cast of cocktails includes Gentleman Jack Lynchburg Lemonade and Whisky iced tea. Most menu items are under an affordable $16. Giddyup!The 2015 Washington Cask Beer Festival is coming up on March 28th with over 40 guild member breweries at the Seattle Center exhibition hall. There will be over 100 cask conditioned beers on tap during two sessions from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Beers are brewed and served in the traditional English method which required natural conditioning without artificially introduced CO2 and poured via a hand pump or by gravity. Also note that this year’s Herbert’s Legendary Cask Festival Ale was brewed at Postdoc Brewing Herbert’s is a collaborative beer that’s brewed at a different host brewery each year in honor of a Northwest beer icon, Bert Grant. The beer will make its debut prior to the Cask Festival at the release party hosted by The Latona Pub on Monday, March 23. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door.

Spring has sprung early in our farmers markets and with this warmer than usual weather we are starting to see some lovely greens popping up. Discoveries from this weekend in the market included rhubarb, radishes, fresh greens and nettles. You can always tell when we’ve emerged from winter by the amount of fresh produce coming into market. Now get cooking!
