For some, brunch is a Sunday ritual at an old familiar place. For others, it can mean long lines, wait times, and no chance in hell of going if you have small kids. And while Fred and Carrie made waiting in line for marionberry hotcakes in Portlandia an event, we hope you never have to endure such madness. So here’s to Miller’s Guild for adding to our weekend brunch options with their new menu featuring “Rib Cap Steak & Eggs as You Like ’Em,” buttermilk fried chicken and biscuits, and my personal favorite, the “Smokey, Meaty, Bloody Mary.” For the full menu, check out this link.

If you need a drink, head to Populuxe Brewing in Ballard tomorrow for their second anniversary celebration. Not only will Dizzy’s Tumblebus be there from 2 to 4 p.m. for both the kids and those who have recently been to their local cannabis retailer, but “grown-up” music will be available as well from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Food will be provided by the No Bones About It vegan/vegetarian food truck and Baileywood Creamery. If you want a cheeseburger or some tube steak to go with your brew, you will have to bring your own.

And now for the obligatory Easter brunch post—but with a bit of a twist! Chef Taichi Kitamura (and recent Beat Bobby Flay winner) will be serving Brunch Gozen at Sushi Kappo Tamura with seasonal ingredients from the Pacific Northwest. Diners will have their choice of one of three options, including hiru gozen, bara chirashi, or nabeyaki udon. Look ’em up. Brunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and reservations can be made by visiting the restaurant website or by calling 547-0937.
