Everett is getting a food market in one The Market at Potala Place which is scheduled to open this summer. The early lineup of tenants includes Potala Farms, ChouxChoux Bakery and BB Ranch Butcher Shop and Fish Market run by William Von Schneidow. The Market will operate year-round and the remaining lineup of tenants is expected to inhabit the market by the end of 2015.

The much anticipated Chophouse Row project in Capitol Hill is set to have a soft opening of sorts on May 1st on 11th between Pike and Union. While the market is not yet entirely finished, two tenants will be opening for business tomorrow. The Capitol Hill Seattle blog reports that both Kurt Timmermeister’s Kurt Farm Shop and home/garden shop Niche will be ready to roll while other tenants such as Erica Burke’s Chop Shop Cafe and Bar will open in late June/early May. Stay tuned…

And if you’re planning on being hungry on Saturday morning then the Taco Truck Challenge and Fiesta 5K (not necessarily in that order) may be for you. 107.7 The End sponsors the event beginning at 9:30 a.m. bringing you over 20 taco trucks to help satisfy your appetite after you aimlessly run for about 3 miles for no good reason at all. Oddly enough, only one proper ‘taco truck’ is listed as participating along with others featuring biscuits, lumpia, pizza and other non-Mexican food. But I guess ‘taco truck’ sounds better than ‘food truck’ so there you go. Anyway, a ‘taco truck’ champion will be crowned, live music from Wild Party will be played, stomachs will be stretched and admission is free if you run in the 5K. If not, $5 gets you in. Ole!
