Are macarons the next cupcake? What does that even mean? I don’t know but if you like these airy yet chewy confections you now have more options to eat them than you could care to imagine. One such place is Ba Bar in Capitol Hill where Pastry Chef Roger Martinho has crafted a selection of 24 flavor combinations including red velvet, passion fruit, and spicy dark chocolate pepper. Every Monday at 7 a.m. you can choose from a rotating selection of the top 12 flavors of the week for a buck seventy a pop. Hell, have three.

If you are a fan of oysters, that glorious bivalve that inhabits our Pacific Northwest waters, then you’ll want to head to RN74 where Executive Chef David Varley is hosting a pop up of sorts with Travis and Ryan Croxton of Virginia’s Rappahannock Oyster Company on October 23rd from 3-7. For $2 apiece you can pop open delectable Virginica oysters and compare them with some of our locally grown cousins.

Bees, bears and other honey loving beings unite for a Honey Tasting at Northgate Community Center on October 25th from 4-7 to support the Community Foundation of North Central Washington and the Fire Relief Fund. For a $20 minimum donation one can sample any number of the 106 kinds of honey from 19 different countries. It’s hard to imagine a more diverse array of honey being presented anywhere so go and get your fix while supporting a good cause.
