1. Sprudge reports on Caffe Ladro’s schmancy new South Lake Union digs, stating that, “Ladro has gone from an afterthought on the Seattle specialty coffee radar to a major player with presence.” Check the photos out here.
2. Madrona’s Restaurant Bea has shuttered. According to Nosh Pit, the eatery closed its doors last Friday night. Featured on the New York Times “You’re the Boss” blog last March, Bea is the latest in a string of short-lived restaurants to occupy the storefront at 1423 34th Ave., including June and Cremant.
3. Hey beer fans with kids: Populuxe Brewing in Ballard is hosting its second Family Happy Hour next Friday, July 26 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Parents can hit the bar and kiddos can hit their own fully-stocked (bubble) bar or navigate a toddler obstacle course. Burgers and fries will be available for purchase, with free scoops from Umpqua Bank’s ice cream truck for dessert.
4. Seattle celeb chef Ethan Stowell is joining farmers from Rochester, WA-based Helsing Junction Farm and staff from the PCC Farmland Trust in a talk about growing and eating organic food. The Local Chefs for Local Farms event includes a four-course meal at Tavolata, Stowell’s Belltown eatery. Tickets for the July 29th event are over here.
