Your Daily Dose of Food + Drink News, Events and Must-Read Miscellany

1. After spending two months installing a kitchen and hiring some new staff, the owners of The Dish officially open their second breakfast and lunch spot tomorrow in the former Irwin’s space at 301 NE 65th St. Will the menu be the same as the original Dish location in Frelard? Thank goodness, yes. A soft opening over the weekend featured triangles of larger-than-your-face scones, hearty scrambles and coffee served in mismatched mugs. Be prepared to grab one while you’re waiting for a table this weekend.

2. Since we’re in the neighborhood: Thurston’s Bistro & Lounge is planning to open this Friday on Latona Ave. across the street from the new Dish. The space previously occupied by Mona’s will feature “bistro French meets Southern” fare, including hand-cut meat and fresh seafood. But all you really need to know is that chicken and waffles (!!!) will be served.

3. The menu for tonight’s “A Coterie Picnic” at Belltown’s The Coterie Room offers schmancy twists on classic summer eats, like deviled eggs with crispy duck skin, lamb ribs and heirloom baked beans with smoked onions. Call 206-956-8000 for reservations.

4. Ditch the car and take the ferry to the 5th annual Kitsap Wine Festival at Harborside Fountain Park in Bremerton this Saturday. The 2:00 to 5:30 pm event includes sips from several local wineries and bites from area purveyors and restaurants. Tickets are available online or at the gates, click here for more info.
