1. After announcing plans late last year to take over a historic space in Woodinville that has housed watering holes for more than seven decades, Josh Henderson is set to open the doors of Hollywood Tavern next Tuesday, November 12. Styled after a classic roadside tavern, but souped up with fire pits and cornhole, the whiskey and burger spot’s menu also includes fresh pasta and soft serve for the kids. Executive Chef Angie Roberts (BOKA, Flying Fish, W Hotel) leads the kitchen crew. Woodinville Whiskey is scheduled to launch its new distillery on the premises later this year.

2. Scandinavian bread and sweet spot Byen Bakeri is open in Lower Queen Anne, according to Seattle Met. The shiny new space near SPU serves loaves of homemade rye, cookies, kringles and muffins from 5:30 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Thursday, 5:30 am to 8:00 pm Friday and Saturday and 6:30 am to 6:00 pm on Sundays.

3. Just in time for the holidays, Hot Cakes pastry chef Stephanie Lock is teaming up with owner Autumn Martin to teach a series of caramel making classes. Covering, “the old-world techniques used to make Hot Cakes’ dark, smoky, true caramel sauce,” the Saturday sessions are scheduled from November 9 through December 21. Call 206-420-343 for more info.

4. Fremont’s Book Larder hosts an Ivar’s Seafood Cookbook signing this evening. Ivar’s President Bob Donegan and co-author Jess Thomson will share a recipe and talk Ivar’s history from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. No reservations are required, but you can RSVP on the Book Larder website.
