?You have to understand something: Normally, “raw vegan superfood” isn’t a phrase that rings my bell. I’m all about the guilty pleasures and the bad dietary choices, and that’s on a good day.But I tried a raw, vegan superfood this week–a medicated one–and I believe it could be the future of cannabis edibles.I spotted Ganja Goop last weekend while visiting Herban Legends dispensary in White Center. The shop also had more conventional medibles such as brownies (potent ones, with the cutesy name “Wownies”), chocolates, and suckers. But I looked past those, because I saw the Goop, and I had never encountered it before. Turns out it was made by the wife of budtender Chris, and it’s obviously a labor of love, because it is done exactly right.?Ganja Goop comes in three flavors: Blueberry Bliss and Goji-Cacao Love (both $30), and Cashew-Golden Raisin ($25). I’m something of a blueberry fan, so I went with the Bliss, which is made of macadamias, pecans, dried wild blueberries, marijuana, coconut oil, and agave nectar.”You’ll never eat all that stuff,” my wife told me on the way home from Herban Legends. “It’s far too healthy for you to like it.” “I’ll make it through somehow,” I told her. “It’s my job.”But, far from being a chore, consuming Blueberry Bliss made it clear just how appropriate the name is. This stuff is absolutely delicious–it tastes as good as any medicated edible I’ve ever tried. You may be wondering “But does it work?” Yes. Yes, it works very well.Budtender Chris told me the $30 jar of Goop contained 12 average-sized doses. I consumed the jar over a six-night period, which means I did double doses, and I can report very favorably on the results. Each night, about an hour after about four teaspoons of Goop, I got very pleasantly medicated, with great pain and nausea relief. Just be aware that your thought processes will also get fuzzy, if your experience matches mine. Expecting this outcome, I took the Goop around bedtime each night, and got some great rest as an added bonus.Watch yourself, because this stuff is so damned delicious you may be tempted to eat the whole jar at once. After trying Blueberry Bliss, I can hardly wait to get a chance to sample the other two flavors, as well.In fact, Herban Legends should come out with a non-medicated version of Goop–it tastes so good, it doesn’t even need the ganja to make it totally worthwhile.Ganja Goop is available at Herban Legends, 9619 16th Ave. S.W.
