Yep, you guessed it. Green jello shots.Kells Irish Bar and Restaurant boasts that it throws the largest St. Patrick’s Day party in the Northwest, with an outdoor tent, four stages, and plenty of live Irish folk music, dancing, and of course, booze. Apparently, they weren’t exaggerating about how big the bash is. When we stopped by earlier this afternoon, it was packed with drunks people downing Guinness, whiskey, and of course, green jello shots. Almost everybody was rocking green and some girls even managed to find sexy St. Patrick’s Day-themed outfits. There wasn’t an empty seat in the house. Most impressive: Many of these merry folks started partying as soon as the bar opened its doors for business – at 10 a.m.

These lovely ladies (Andi and Jackie) got to Kells at 10:30 a.m.Interestingly, the ones proudest to reveal this fact were also the ones who refused to have their picture taken. (Do your bosses know what you’re doing right now? Or are you at home “sick”?) A 20-something dude in a Sounders jersey told me he was on his second “sick” day, which prompted me to ask if he was Irish. “No, I just like a having an excuse to drink beer,” he responded. Fair enough. For those of you who did go to work today (suckers!) and want to get in the action this evening, take note: Admission is $20 and comes with a commemorative t-shirt. Cheers, everybody!
