What had been sited as another Topolino’s Pizza is now the soon-to-open King Creole Louisiana Gumbo + BBQ. They’re shooting for the first of the month, with a jazz band planned for the opening. They’ll offer take-out at first; seating will come later.

Kinsey (the owner) finds himself on the East edge of the CD via New Orleans, and the menu is a clear indication of his culinary heritage. I’m looking forward to his promised po’ boys and peach cobbler.

And, if one new place on this block is not enough: Two doors up will be Emmy’s Ethiopian (also still under construction), a restaurant with a mini-mart off the side.
