Tomorrow and Sunday, August 15-16, Julia’s Indonesian Kitchen (910 N.E. 65th St.) is celebrating Indonesian independence day with a prix-fixe special meal. Both the meat-bearing ($19.95) and the vegetarian ($16.95) platters center around yellow rice, which is cooked with turmeric, basil, lemongrass, and galangal. The rice comes with either Javanese fried chicken or tofu steamed in banana leaves, as well as a vegetable white curry, corn fritters, tempe, and rose-flavored soda. For more information on Julia’s, read my 2007 review.
