Today, tomorrow, and Sunday is the annual festival along California & Alaska

Today, tomorrow, and Sunday is the annual festival along California & Alaska that combines sidewalk sales, fair food, fair crafts, folksie neighborhood bonding, blowup-kid-thingies, and a pretty damn cool music line-up. Day to early evening, festival specifics are here: www.westseattlefestival.com.But what I want to know is, with all the hoopla, why is the farmers’ market still only 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday?? (Make a note of that kids.) Surly the hours should be extended for such an event. But you can get your grilled corn and falafel and corn dog and brat, and gyros and sno-cone fix all weekend. Did I mention the beer and wine gardens and that it’s supposed to be in the lollygaggin’ 70’s all weekend? So please gentlemen, no excuses, keep your shirts on.Some of the musical highlights (uh oh, I’m crossing blog boundaries! But it goes to show that the WS Junction Assoc. really throws a party.): The oddly satisfying Awesome (FRI, 7:00-8:00pm, south stage) plays poppy, large arrangements of kook. And welcome the band, whose album is yet to be released but KEXP DJ John loves them so much he married them, The Blakes (SAT, 6:30-7:30pm, north stage. And don’t forget alt-darlings Mark Pickerel (SAT, 5:15-6:15pm, south stage) and Carrie Akre (SUN, 2:45-3:45pm, south stage). Full music line up available online. Not bad for our sleepy little city-subset.
