This month’s SAM curator talk at Hotel 1000 covers artist Titus Kaphar. The artist is known for his reinterpretations of 18th and 19th century paintings–strange minglings of period and composition to thoughtful effect. But I only allow myself one sentence per artistic criticism since I blow at it. I am, however, always willing to learn, especially if there are snacks. The studio off the lobby will have free appetizers and wine, a table of fire and one of those Microsoft surface tables on which to view the entire exhibit. Get there early if you don’t want to fight over a crab cake. Hotel 1000 (1000 First Ave.), Wednesday, April 8th at 5:00pm
