The University Food Bank is getting little sweeter during the holiday season thanks to Seattle’s Mighty O Donuts. The gourmet donut house is giving all of its extra stock to the University Food Bank. The donation amount varies depending on how many donuts the general public wolfs down each day. “For example, yesterday we had low sales, so there’s probably 10 to 12 dozen donuts to drop off at the food bank,” says general manager Brandon Gillespie. “But the day prior probably only two to three dozen.”Gillespie says the program will run through the holidays, but the company plans to continue to send unsold donuts to the Food Bank throughout the year. Also, Capitol Hill’s popular Cafe Septieme is closing its doors in two weeks. The Broadway eatery won’t be able to weather the redevelopment of its building, so the owner has decided to call it quits.
