The Pike Brewing Company hosts a Limited Vintage Old Bawdy Vertical Tasting, in which you’ll get to sample aged barley wine from 1997 and 1998 and bottles from 2006 through 2009. Barley wine is an old British term for beer (fermented barley, instead of grapes); with a high alcohol content, around 10 percent, this beer stands up nicely to the aging process. If you don’t make it in time for this exclusive Sunday afternoon event (maximum attendance is 25), arrive later, pay less, and drink the younger beers. Sun., Jan. 31, 1-3 p.m., $25; 3-6 p.m., $15. Call 812-6613 to reserve a spot.
