The Pacific Northwest bar scene and its loyal patrons are coming together to raise money for legendary Seattle bartender Murray Stenson, whom Mike Seely wrote a cover story about earlier this year. Stenson currently has a heart ailment that is preventing him from going back to work and an online fund called MurrayAid has been established to raise money for his medical expenses. Several bars will also be hosting fundraisers for him — this Thursday you can hit up Hale Pele in Portland to support the cause. Future events include evenings at Paratii Craft Bar in Ballard on October 27 or 28, Canon on October 30 and Zig Zag on November 4 (visit murrayaid.org for an up-to-minute schedule). Be sure to keep an eye on the MurrayAid Facebook page for updates and details.
