LA BUONA TAVOLA It means “The Good Table” in Italian, but you don’t need a table to enjoy their truffle-kissed soups, salads, and sandwiches, each of which begs for a picnic blanket and a fine bottle of wine. And with soups as dreamy as the cream of celeriac ($4.75 bowl/$3 cup), a person would be content to eat standing up. The rich, velvety potage is drizzled with rare white truffle oil, as are the designer prosciutto ($6.25), porchetta ($7.25), and veggie ($5.95) sandwiches. Other meat sandwiches are blessed with black truffle oil or red pepper oil. An incredible Umbrian lentil soup ($4.75/$3) is made with bits of musky Umbrian black truffles. Even salads get the truffle treatment here. A green salad ($6/$4 half) becomes a lunch entrée with the addition of stuffed chicken breast, roasted beets, and truffled balsamic vinaigrette. Each menu item is made from scratch in the deli, which also boasts an impressive retail section for fine oils, olives, and other imported goods. Including, need we say it, truffles. 1524 Pike Pl., 206-292-5555. PIKE PLACE MARKET
