The first annual Whoopie Pie Contest took place today at Oddfellows Cafe on Capitol Hill. Amateur and professional bakers alike showed off their delightful confections – ranging from the traditional chocolate cake sandwich with marshmallow cream (or butter cream, depending on your standard of tradition) center to lime-poppy seed with blackberry filling. Desperate to see who won and see the cakes in action? Check out our pics and maybe you’ll be inspired to make some whoopie. Photos by Will Hazzard.Published on July 21, 2010
