“The Daily Drink” brings you a must-try libation from our booze columnist Zach Geballe. It may be a cocktail he loves at a specific bar here in Seattle (or one’s he concocted himself), or a bottle of wine or beer he’s excited about, often local.

The Dirty Boulevard at Greenwood’s Teacher’s Lounge is a take on the classic Boulevardier, blending bourbon, sweet vermouth, Campari, and pimento dram (an allspice liqueur). It has the usual Boulevardier blend of sweetness and bitterness, but the spiced notes that the pimento dram lends gives it a wonderful wintery feel (yes, unfortunately, it’s still winter). The orange twist garnish brings just the right amount of citrus brightness into the mix as well. In short, it’s a nice tweak of an underappreciated classic.

Zach Geballe does a lot of drinking. When he’s not working at The Dahlia Lounge or for his business Vine Trainings, he’s studying for the Court of Master Sommeliers Exam. His weekly column here at Seattle Weekly, The Bar Code, endeavors to inspire, educate and sometimes poke fun at all things beer, wine and spirits related.
