Sweet gyoza with chocolate sauce at STIR Martini + Raw Bar. Apparently not sweet enough to keep ’em in business.

Two upscale bar-restaurants shut down in Bellevue this weekend, according to the Seattle Times. Why? They just weren’t making enough money. Stir Martini Bar and Twisted Cork, both Solstice Restaurant Group ventures, opened in 2006 and 2009, respectively. Granted, competition was stiff. Bellevue Place, Bellevue Square, and Lincoln Square (referred to as the Bellevue Collection) offer visitors a whopping 45 bars and restaurants to choose from.

In much happier news, My Ballard reports that a new gelato shop is scheduled to open on Ballard Avenue by mid-April. Also, West Seattle’s sustainable butcher shop the Swinery announced plans to re-open on April 1. Actually, they’re already in there whipping up a batch of corned beef for St. Patrick’s Day, which you can order via e-mail. You’ve gotta admire folks who can’t wait to return to work.
