Sunnier days bring plenty of foot traffic through the Seattle neighborhoods, and business owners are thinking up ways to entice some spending behavior this spring. Queen Anne’s IceBox Grocery (1903 10th Ave. W.), a specialty grocery store that also sells homemade soups and sandwiches, plans to have new owners by April 1st. The Queen Anne View reported that with the change in management, a new liquor license is in the works so that those munching on sandwiches can also enjoy an alcoholic beverage.

Just down the road, 5 Corners Mini Mart (309 W McGraw St.) plans to open next week, stirring up some neighborly concern. Last Wednesday, residents gathered at a Queen Anne community council meeting to discuss the nature of the store that had signs advertising “cheap cigarettes” and “beer and wine” on the windows. Since then, owner Steve Park has changed the signs to instead read “Organic Ice Cream” and “Organic Coffee,” stressing that it will be a “friendly neighborhood grocery.” You can read more about the new mini mart on the Queen Anne View blog.

According to the MyBallard blog, the colorful Lockspot Cafe (3005 NW 54th St.) will have a new (although temporary!) tenant occupying its neighboring coffee stand. Nervous Nellie’s Espresso Co. plans to move to the stand by March 31st before settling on their permanent space at the entrance to the Locks sometime in mid-April.
