Stanley, 1996-2009 – Normally I wouldn’t post something about personal loss; except that big beautiful face there belongs to Stanley, and he was pretty much a public figure, a market staple if you will. He even has his own movie (Stanley, A Dogumentary). Stanley spent most of his time at the Pike Place Market seeing as how his human, Jen Doak, runs The Tasting Room in Post Alley. Everyone in the market knew Stanley. He’d make his rounds and lay just inside or outside the threshold to his shop. Many days in the summer I’d stop to hang with Stanley for a few minutes, like so many, and in that way Stanley had his own social life. There was just something about this dog… his face more sweet and wise than any pooch in the history of ever. You could actually see kids’ hearts burst when they spotted him. If you frequent the market and knew Stanley, please consider a contribution in his name to Ginger’s Pet Rescue, which helps save death row dogs, because not every pup gets to lead as charmed a life as did Mr. Stanley. The deepest condolences to Ms. Doak.
