South Park may have lost Trade Route Brewing, but it gained Odin Brewing. The new brewery boldly debuts with two beers completely devoid of the word “pale.” Odin’s Gift is a ruby ale that has a malt sweet and floral aroma with the additional note of juniper berries (used in brewing). The berries really hit home on the crisp finish, melding with the bitterness of the hops. Thor’s Fury is a dry black ale with the distinctive smell of Scotch, which comes from the peat-smoked malt used by the brewery. This dark beer has more of the roasted coffee and dark chocolate side of malt and pleasantly lacks too much caramel character. Quinn’s, the Tin Hat, Latona Pub and Jules Mae have all been carrying one or the other, and you can find a full list of customers and retailers on the brewery’s website.
